PIP breast implants

You may have heard that a French manufacturer of breast implants, called PIP implants, has gone into administration after admitting to using inferior silicone in their implants. Thankfully, I have never used PIP implants because of the lack of safety data that they have, and we also have some good news for women who have PIP implants inside them. Nagor, who produce Impleo implants, have stated that they’ll provide free implants for women who are wishing to have their PIP implants replaced, if they were the implants that have been identified as being the ones with the illegal silicone in them and if they have ruptured. The news from BAAPS (the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons), of which Mr Shoaib is a member, is that women with PIP breast implants should have an ultrasound scan to check their implants. If they’re ruptured, then they should be replaced, and if they’re not ruptured, then they don’t need to be replaced just yet, though women may want to have them replaced at some stage. If you have PIP implants and want to have a consultation with Mr Shoaib to discuss your options, then please come and see us for an appointment.
