Laser Therapy for Sun-Damaged Skin

lasers_sun_damaged_skinSun damage can have a serious impact on the look and health of your skin, but with the new Harmony XL laser treatments these effects can be greatly minimised, leaving you feel refreshed and revitalised, with a much improved skin tone and texture. Age spots, fine lines and wrinkles can now be consigned to the past with a minimum of discomfort and downtime.

Brown spots, broken capillaries and other fallout from photo-ageing are easy targets for laser systems that use broadband light to repair these defects through a process called photo-rejuvenation. Additionally, facial wrinkles can now be treated non-ablatively (meaning the surface of the skin is left intact), contributing to a more youthful appearance. Using relatively low-energy, short-pulse broadband light, imperfections such as age spots and other discoloured signs of photo-ageing can be gently heated and eliminated, replaced by newer, younger looking skin.

Treatments with Harmony lasers and the Laser 360 skin rejuvenation procedures are gentle, with no downtime. In fact, laser skin treatments for less deep wrinkles and other signs of ageing can be done during a lunch hour and no one will notice any sign of treatment, just a gradual improvement in the skin’s appearance.

For patients with medium to deep wrinkling who wish to avoid surgical procedures but desire a youthful, refreshed skin tone, Pixel CO2 skin resurfacing is the ideal choice. Years ago, CO2 skin resurfacing fell out of favour due to the treatment’s long downtimes and risk of complications. Now with the Pixel CO2 system, you again see fabulous results but with a considerable reduction in downtime.

The lasers take formerly unused short-wavelength light and convert it into part of the usable spectrum through a special filtering system. Harmony lasers also deliver Equally Distributed Fluence, which means that every pulse of light has uniform energy density across the entire output face. This fluence ensures repeatable results and remarkable safety. In short, what you get is a more efficient system for ideal clinical improvements, less discomfort and minimal skin damage.

Following the Progress of Treatment

Below you will see a sequence of photographs showing how the skin improves with successive laser treatments for sun-damaged skin. Initially, the skin appears noticeably red, but this soon changes and the effects begin to rapidly take hold. By the final stage, the skin is almost completely free of damage caused by the sun. The patient in the photographs has kindly described the process so that other patients can understand what the treatment process entails.

Before treatment

“At first, after the first treatment, I thought my face was quite dark and red and full of freckles. My skin was red and tingly for a few hours, but then about 12 hours later the freckles started to go browner. A day later I could notice the results even more and I couldn’t wait to go back for more treatment.”

“Three weeks later the improvements were clear to see, and this time I hardly felt the laser during my second treatment. By now I was desperate to get it finished. The results have been so good and I’m delighted with the improvement.”

“This is before my third and final treatment. Overall, it’s been 100% effective and worth every penny.”
