Many people, unhappy with sagging skin, ask us about arm and thigh lift surgery. If the skin has been stretched beyond its natural limit due to weight gain, natural growth or pregnancy, stretch marks can appear and if the weight is then lost again, the skin may struggle to shrink back into place and hang in loose folds. Arm and thigh lift surgery can remove this excess skin to leave the thigh area tight and smooth, and give greater body confidence.
Arm and Thigh Lift
Are you considering arm or thigh surgery?
Performed under general anaesthetic, your arm or thigh lift surgery will usually require an overnight stay in the hospital. The procedure takes between two and three hours to complete.
During thigh surgery your surgeon will make an incision around the top of the thigh (near the groin) before pulling the excess skin upwards, stitching it into its new position and trimming the excess. The result is smooth thighs that show the results of your weight loss and give you greater confidence.
Arm Lift – (Brachioplasty)
After losing a lot of weight, people sometimes find they have an excess of skin overhanging from their upper arms. This “bat wing” appearance can benefit from surgery to remove the excess skin.
Before you book arm or thigh lift surgery you will need an initial consultation with one of our Consultant Plastic Surgeons. The initial consultation does not commit you to surgery but gives you an in-depth understanding of the process and risks involved so you can make an informed decision as to whether an arm lift is a right choice for you. The initial surgeon consultation also allows the consultant to find out about your expectations and make you understand the amount of scarring to be expected because scars on the body do not fade as much as those on the face. It is possible to perform liposuction at the same time and sometimes combination treatments work best.
