Labiaplasty is one of the fastest growing cosmetic surgery procedures performed in Scotland and the UK today.
It is not unusual for women to have concerns about the size, shape or definition of their labia, the inner and outer folds that sit either side of the vagina. The reason for this may be simply be genetics, childbirth or just aging.
The most common reasons for choosing Labiaplasty are:
- Achieve labial asymmetry
- Restore stimulation
- Reconstruct the vulva after childbirth
- No longer want to feel embarrassed or avoid sexual activity
- No longer encounter pain when wearing tight pants or bikini bottoms
- Address hygiene difficulties caused by an enlarged labia
Labiaplasty is the surgical procedure to reshape the dimensions of the labia minora, the small lips of skin on either side of the vaginal opening. Your surgeon will remove the unwanted tissue with either a scalpel or laser before being stitched together with fine dissolvable stitches. At La Belle Forme, Glasgow we give our patients the choice to have the procedure performed using either or a local anaesthetic or with conscious sedation.
In total, the procedure will typically take between 45 minutes to 1 hour, thereafter all patients are able to go home later the same day.
At your consultation we will review your current health, your medical history and the issue you wish to address. Patients will also have the opportunity to ask their surgeon as many questions as they like regarding the procedure itself and recovery times.
