At La Belle Forme, we use the PDO thread lifting system. PDO (Polydioxanone) is a widely used medical material.
The material used is well received by the facial tissues with no complications enhancing the production of natural collagen which the other Vicryl sutures don’t do. Vicryl can agitate or even cause scar tissue in the areas they are placed and therefore not always well received by the facial tissues.
We use a cannula delivery which is a blunt safe delivery system with no damage to nerves or facial structures. Other systems use a sharp long needle which if placed even a few mm off could cause paralysis.
Before we carry out any treatment we’ll complete a full consultation with you and explore all your options so you can make an informed choice.
Once treatment begins it will take about an hour. We’ll cleanse your skin and draw guide marks on the areas we’ll be treating. Then we’ll numb the area with a local anaesthetic and insert the threads.
Aside from a little bruising and swelling, and some temporary numbness of the area that has been treated, you should feel fine. You should be able to return to work after the treatment if you wish.
You may require dermal filler after the procedure has settled to correct areas of volume loss after the jowls and cheeks have been lifted.
We believe our thread lifting technique is the most advanced thread lifting procedure that there is and is performed by the Koreans all the time. Our PDO threads are sourced directly from Korea. We have found that other lifting threads, such as Sillouette, do not give the same lifting capacity.
The threads we use will continue to improve over 9-12 months and have a collagen producing effect lasting up to 2-3 years.
However, we advise having an additional couple of threads at the 12-18 month mark.
We will review the progress of your treatment after 6-weeks.
