Vaser Liposuction

Achieving the figure we want through healthy eating and regular exercise can sometimes be thwarted by stubborn pockets of fat that do not respond to dieting or exercise.

Liposuction surgery is one of the most popular body contouring procedures and removes these problem areas by reshaping the body. By targeting specific deposits of fat, the resulting figure is in better proportion to the rest of the body giving the appearance of significant weight loss.

Fat-removal surgery can be performed on any area of the body and typical problem areas include arms; inner and outer thighs; abdomen; hips; knees and chin. Liposuction is often used in conjunction with other cosmetic surgery procedures such as tummy tucks and breast augmentation.

Are you considering Liposuction surgery?

Despite our best efforts to achieve our goal figure through a healthy lifestyle consisting of an appropriate diet and exercise regime, we can often find persistent areas of fat that are unaffected by dieting and exercise. By removing areas of unwanted fat, Liposuction can increase our self-confidence to bring these areas into proportion with the rest of our bodies. If you have reached your target weight – or are within certain parameters of your goal weight – and have problems with specific areas, Liposuction can resolve these issues. It is important however, to remember that Liposuction is not a quick-fix for weight loss and is designed to contour and sculpt the body.

Vaser Liposuction FAQs

How does Vaser Liposuction work?

First, the area to be reshaped is filled with a tumescent saline solution that helps numb the site and shrink the blood vessels (to minimise blood loss and reduce bruising). This solution wets and fills the area to be treated, making it easier to break up fatty tissue with the Vaser® Lipo System’s ultrasound energy. Then a small probe transmits sound energy to break up (liquefy) fat on contact while preserving other important tissues. Finally, the liquefied fat is removed through a gentle suction process designed to minimise trauma to surrounding tissue structures such as nerves, blood vessels and other connective tissues.

What areas can be treated with Vaser Liposuction?

Doctors have experienced great success in treating all of the following areas: abdomen, thighs, knees, ankles, calves, buttocks, hips, back, arms, male and female breasts, love handles, chin, face and just about any other body part you need treated.

How much fat can be taken and can you treat multiple areas?

Any operation or any cut in the skin leads to scarring. Most scarring after a breast reduction settles over the course of several months. Rarely, scarring can be a problem and in these cases, it will be a problem a few months after the operation.

If you do have scar problems, then you might want to apply creams or ointments recommended by your surgeon, or he may want to give you injections into the scar to help reduce some of the itch and pain associated with some of the more abnormal scars. Scars may also darken if exposed to too much sun or tanning booths after an operation, so you should protect your scars from these after such an operation.

Why is Vaser also called Liposelection?

Vaser® Liposuction, also known as LipoSelection, is an advanced body contouring procedure that uses gentle ultrasonic energy to selectively remove unwanted body fat. An alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction, Vaser® Lipo preserves important tissues like nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue to promote smooth results and fast recovery.

Where is Vaser Liposuction preformed?

Vaser® Lipo is performed in a clean or sterile environment. Some possible options are in a doctor’s office, an outpatient surgery center or a hospital. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia (awake), IV sedation, or general anesthesia. You and your physician will decide the best type of treatment for you.

How soon will I see my results and whats the recovery time?

This varies with the extensiveness of the procedure—the amount of fat removed, the number of areas treated, and so on. Many patients report that they see results immediately after the procedure with the final result at around 3 to 6 months*. It is important that you establish realistic expectations through discussion with your doctor.

How Liposuction Works

Fatty tissue consists primarily of adipose (fat) cells but also contains other important tissues. With Vaser® liposuction, sound waves break up fat for removal while leaving nerves, blood vessels and other connective tissue relatively intact. The Vaser® liquifies the fat which is released out of the fat cells. Once liquefied, fat is easily removed with minimal disturbance to important structures to minimise recovery and maximise results. We perform gentle suction of the released fat to recontour your body.

What Is Vaser Liposuction

Vaser® Liposuction is an advanced body contouring procedure that selectively removes unwanted body fat. An alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction, Vaser® Lipo uses state-of-the-art ultrasound technology designed to gently reshape your body. What distinguishes the Vaser® Lipo procedure is its ability to differentiate targeted fat from other important tissues – such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue.
